SITUATION

UN agency sought recommendations on how to increase woman’s engagement in peace and security efforts in post-revolution Libya, in order to develop a National Action Plan for Libya on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security

SOLUTION

Based on data from 14 focus groups with women and men across Libya and 30 interviews we developed a base-line study exploring the intersection of women, peace and security issues within the political, socio-economic and cultural context in Libya

OUTCOME

Specific recommendations were brought to the UN to support country strategy development for Libya and implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325
